Summary

A presentation on Mindfulness Based Stress reduction: it's history, development and how it impacts the physical body and mind.

Description

The Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center presents Margot Wells as she talks about Mindfulness Based Stressed Reduction: What It Is and Why You Should Know About It.

In this presentation, you will learn about Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a groundbreaking and scientifically researched program that was developed by the University of Massachusetts Medical School. It is based on ancient mindfulness philosophies and practices, and modern science is proving that it can make profound changes in our bodies and minds. It is these changes that can help people living with a cancer diagnosis. Margot will also lead participants in yogic breathing and simple seated movements followed by a meditation.

Margot Wells is a breast cancer survivor who teaches the MBSR program. She completed her training through the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the Brown University School of Public Health. She was in the financial industry for many years until a health crisis forced her to make changes in her life. The MBSR program helped her to heal emotionally and physically and to improve her quality of life. She now teaches the program to help others who may be suffering as she was to better cope with cancer in their lives.
