Description

This support group is open to all cancer survivors whether currently in treatment or in recovery. These convenient online meetings can be accessed by telephone, tablet, computer or smartphone.

Treatment is vital to the survival of anyone who has been given a cancer diagnosis. Both a cancer diagnosis and treatment not only present physical challenges but emotional ones as well, requiring support. The group sessions will provide information, support and skill-building tools that will aid in addressing and improving overall wellness. Each session will cover a different topic including an introduction to the psychology behind cancer survivorship and building resiliency to the impact of cancer on the body, mind and spirit. Meetings will take place every two weeks over the course of 12 weeks. This session will start on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 5:45 – 7:00 and occur every other week ending on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. There will be a break on April 21 due to school vacation and group meetings will resume on April 28, 2020.

Each participant will receive a phone call from the facilitator prior to starting the first meeting to prepare for the group meeting experience.

The group will be facilitated by Stephanie McLeod-Estevez, LCPC, who is also an art therapist and breast cancer survivor. She is the founder of Creative Transformations where she offers transformational sessions and workshops, to her clients and publishes a #Therapy Thursday blog about emotional health and wellness on her website, www.creative-transformations.com
