We are excited to announce that the 20th Annual Beth C. Wright Walk For Life has been set!
The Walk will take place on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Addison.

The annual Walk For Life brings together people of all ages from Hancock and
Washington Counties, who believe that the free programs and services offered by the Beth Wright Cancer Resource Center are vitally needed. This year’s Walk is not the way we envisioned celebrating the 20th anniversary of the event that was started in memory of Beth Charczynski Wright, founded this organization before her death at age 28. On the other hand, we didn’t want this year to pass without recognizing and celebrating this important milestone.

We hope that you will again be able to participate in and support the Walk, our biggest fundraiser, to the best of your ability. A successful Walk is needed to bring in the
funds necessary to ensure that our programs and services are offered at no cost to people living with cancer in Washington and Hancock Counties. The pandemic has also resulted in reductions in grant opportunities, fewer donations, and an inability to host other in-person events and fundraisers.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Walk For Life had to be delayed and we cannot offer it in the traditional way. We have worked hard to design the Walk so we could make it a face-to-face event in accordance with the State of Maine governor’s mandates & the Maine CDC recommendations put in place for safety.

20th Annual Walk For Life Options & Details

We’ve made some essential changes to the Walk for Life this year to keep everyone as safe as possible:

Walk Options

Option 1 – Walk with others at the Addison event. There will be a limit of 35 people allowed to walk at a time – with staggered start times (see below). Each Walker will have a choice of a 1-, 2- or 5-mile walk.
We encourage people to form teams of at least five people, and we will give special recognition to each team raising $500 or more by including the team name on the back of our Walk for Life t-shirt.

Option 2 – Walk on your own. Register and begin walking as soon as you can an
Log your miles, completing your walking by September 26, raising donations from
family and friends.

Registration – All walkers must register by September 14, 2020.
Registration can be done online or by returning the registration form to: P.O. Box 322, Ellsworth, ME 04605.

Please note: There will be no Walk Day registration this year.

Details – Day of the Walk – Addison Town Hall, Addison, Maine

9:30 am – Opening Ceremonies
10:00 am – 1st Walk Begins – Group One Starts (35 Walkers)
10:45 am – 2nd Walk Begins – Group Two Starts (35 Walkers)

• There will be no other activities the day of the Walk.
• The Chinese Auction will be moving to online.
• We hope that all Walkers will raise donations from families and friends. All Walkers who raise at least $25.00 will receive a t-shirt.

Walk Requirements

All walkers must wear masks and keep social distance.
